Billie Holiday How marked the music of today?
Billie Holiday had no influence on the music because his music today all has something to do with music today. There are some singers who say they have been influenced by him, but no influence on his music. The importance of Billie Holiday in jazz is not just their unique style. It was the first genuine jazz singer. Before assembly, the meaning of the song in jazz was very different. The most important jazz of the 1920 and 1930 (Billie began recording in 1933) was the music played by a jazz band. The buyer of a general registration did not know the group of jazz musicians much less play the music. Believe me: the vaccine was the music (I'm talking about jazz, no music etc.) and not a particular record. If you listen to the recordings older jazz, listening to a jazz band and some are short with a choir singing. The intention of this song was that the potential buyer could maintain air hit her head. If you listen to the first recordings of Billie Holiday is heard his voice, not over the air, but only for a short period (the chorus). Billie Holiday changed that with her unique voice, because I thought that as a jazz musician (especially as a saxophonist). It soon became equally important for members of other bands and jazz was not only an ornament to the choir. There are other famous musicians in jazz singing at the top (for example, Louis Armstrong) but this particular role Billie Holiday, who was a singer was something new. After a short time, it was Billie Holiday who was the star and the fires of the orchestra and not an instrument player. This marked Billie Holiday jazz. As mentioned, this has nothing to do with today's music. Edit: Hub Well, I do not think they really disagree with me, because music Frank Sinatra is not the music of today and it has been 50 years since that interview. 
The fact that she was a singer does not mean that influence today's singers. By comparing by Macy Gray or other singers are listed below with the great Day of the Virgin is an insult. Billie Holiday is the best jazz singer of all time. Macy Gray and all others are just ordinary pop musicians. Edit: @ Martin Sure, Billie herself was influenced by Bessie Smith (and Louis Armstrong), as she says it once and did not leave a vacuum. However, Bessie Smith and Mamie Smith are blues singers Billie Holiday and is not a blues singer, though some say it was a blues singer. My conception the influence of the word is not going so far as in so many answers here. Billie Holiday certainly influenced Frank Sinatra, Carmen McRae and Ella Fitzgerald. However, the relationship between Billie Holiday and musicians today are too far in my humble opinion. I see no parallel between Macy Gray and Billie Holiday. Some people say it was influenced Bix Beiderbecke by Debussy and certainly by Nick LaRocca (Original Dixieland Jass Band). Some say that Bix was also influenced by Miles Davis. However, I find no parallel between the music of Debussy and Nick LaRocca and Miles. However, I think that is a debate about the meaning of word''influence … Salud!
